WEEKLY REFLECTIONS Introduction
|
These writings are inspired and energized by my personal experiences with
challenge and refinement by fire. (This reflects the significance of the
Holy Spirit's infusion into His people at the Pentecost being marked by literal
flames of fire over their heads.) By personal experiences, I don't mean to
confine them to only my own. The challenges and trials of many with whom
I shared their life journeys, gratefully and humbly, inspired me as well.
I am a Christian expositor and a student of many schools of both psychology and theology. While I draw from the wells of many various traditions and teachings in both fields, I am deeply, spiritually, Christian. However, this is not to announce these Reflections are Christian proclamations or evangelical expositions with the intent of "winning" readers over to my "side" or "views". I have been deeply and gratefully influenced by the teachings and lives of the master teachers and practitioners of the Way and Truth of the Emmanuel, meaning "God-with-us." ("Jesus" is the Greek form of "Yeshua" (Hebrew) which is actually a shortened version of "Yehoshua" which translates into English as "Joshua". Yehoshua is understood to mean "Yahweh (God) saves/redeems.") Interestingly, my study of religions and spiritual practices have led me into a deeper understanding of my own faith and spiritual pilgrimage. Thus, regardless of your personal or spiritual persuasion as a reader of these Reflections, I trust you, too, will experience the Good News of Jesus the Christ and will in some way grow from sharing my own reflective journey. (I welcome your sharing with me your own reflections as well!) |
