Greetings to all of you and our prayers for a fulfilling new year! There is so much to "talk" about at this start of a new century and we hope that you "talk" back to us this week!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

1. ~~ ** MiniReflection ** ~~

A lot of folks still don't "get it"! And you can help "spread the word": New Year's Day is not a spiritual event! Not to us Christians, not even to practitioners of "New Age" ideologies and earth-based worship. Nothing cosmic happens...No full moons, rare planetary conjunctions, solstices or equinoxes or even a periodic scheduled comet visit. To make the secular into the spiritual is as profane as reducing the spiritual to the secular. An example was the line up of video cameras pointed at the Mt. of Olives ready to broadcast Christ's Second Coming to the world. Like Jesus really needed our technical help to get the word out that He's back! And it isn't like they could show these great videos to their grandchildren! The arrogance of people is astounding, and profane.

At this writing, we are 1,999 years and 7 days from the year 0. We still have 358 days to go until we finally reach the 2000 year mark and the new millennium. But 2000 years from what? Again, from a secular decision: Where to put the year 0 on our calendar. We invented our present time keeping. Other cultures have different calendars, particularly in the Far East, although they use ours for business and political purposes. In our calendar, Jesus was born in 4 BC and died and resurrected in 29 AD. So we already missed the opportunity of celebrating the completion of the second millennium of His birth, which happened in 1997. Oh well. But we still have plenty of time to prepare for the completion of the second millennium if we count it from His resurrection, which will be in 2030. Will that be the big day?

I'm being playful here with the numbers to drive the point that our time keeping is a very arbitrary invention about which God must also be having a laugh. The scriptures are clear on this subject: Christ will return as a thief in the night, and even the angels don't have a clue when that will be. Christ frequently warned, "So stay alert!" Why is C2C (Christ's Second Coming) such a heavenly guarded secret? What would happen if it wasn't? We'll ponder that another time.

2. ~~ ** Product and Services Updates ** ~~

We have added more items in various categories to our online store so please visit it often and tell your friends about it. Through our network of distributors, we have access to almost a million Christian products. During the past week alone several people have written if we could get a particular item, song book, CD, book, etc., because they just could not find it anywhere. In most cases we were able to find the desired item and that makes us, as well as our brothers and sisters in Christ, quite happy. If you want to have easy access to a particular kind of product, please let us know what it is and we'll post it on the web site.

3. ~~ ** Cruising Christian Cyberspace! ** ~~

Our feature this week is Mission Station (http://www.missionaries.org). This web site isn't just about missionary work. It is a virtual clearinghouse of hundreds of links to other sites in well organized categories of Christian experience and interest. Some include organizations, news services, country mission sites, specialty missions, theology, travel advice, world religions and the basics of how to become a missionary. Another great resource to bookmark!

4. ~~ ** Let us know! ** ~~

A reminder that we welcome interaction among the members of the Body of Christ and are sincerely interested in how you think we are doing and how we can better meet your needs as a spiritual resource.

We mentioned before our desire to include another category to this newsletter, "Subscriber Sharings". While we truly appreciate the kind and encouraging feedback on our web site service and these newsletters, we are inviting your own "mini-reflections," so to speak. Perhaps a catalyst is needed. Remember the questions I posed above: Why the great secret as to the timing of Christ's return and what would happen if we knew when? What do you think? We'll publish your ideas without identifying you (unless you want that) in the next newsletter so the rest of us can ponder. We are also interested in how you "celebrated" the turn of the century, especially since our readers are spread out throughout the world. So, let us know!

5. This week's Weekly Reflection follows. Please encourage others to subscribe! Share this newsletter with three of your friends and help spread the word. That's our only means of growing and reaching more people...your recommendations to others.

So in gratitude to God for all things, let me bid you grace in the Name of our Lord and please keep in touch with us! We are blessed to hear from you!

John
